If you don’t like words, I’ve got a video:

Yup, all of them.

There are too many external factors that can sway a politicians interest away from the best interest of society.
Or they can simply mask the the bill they put forward as truly helping society make good progress, but then hiding stipulations and amendments within the bill that utterly destroy what the bill was supposed to do.

My mother actually put it quite well actually:
“Term limits, no trading on any stock market while in office including family and Congress employees this is beyond the Stock Act signed into law by Obama. No buying or selling of land while in office including family and their employees. No benefits after end of term limits. A Politician’s job is to serve the people not themselves. If these restrictions were in place, something may get done. Just my opinion no need to get into any deep discussion. In some jobs you have to separate any financial interest if it looks like you could personally benefit from the knowledge, information you have access to. Politicians should go beyond this to truly be working for the people who elected them.”

Now it’s just a matter of getting the politicians to sign this into law so that it can actually happen………..right.

So if we know the politicians won’t willingly apply this kind of legal structure to themselves, then why the hell are we following them?

Let’s take our power back by empowering ourselves to take responsibility for the aspects of our lives.

In doing so, help the others around you to survive and thrive.  Work for everyone’s mutual aid.

The key aspects to start work on are:

Number One – Shelter

For the most part we all have this pretty well figured out, however if you don’t own the place you live you need to figure out how you can do so, or adjust your living arrangements so that you can actually own/partially own the place that you live in.

Personally, I live in a tiny house on wheels, so I’m in a very unique situation with where I live and how I can travel.

Number Two – Food

If you’re not currently growing some of your own food, you need to start doing so now.  Even if you don’t really need to grow your food since you have a local organic grocery store, please grow a garden.  There are other people within your own city or in the surrounding towns that either don’t have the land/space to grow anything or their soil and water have become completely fucked because of companies and governments recklessly using pesticides and chemicals while also not always dumping or securing the waste from their practices.

Thus you don’t have all of the best soil for growing healthy food.

So please, grow a garden, if not for you then for your community.

Also follow the wisdom of Ron Finley.

Number Three – Water

The same issues that you have with soil, pesticides and chemical waste, pop up here with water as well. So how do you decentralize your use of water?

Rainwater harvesting or building a well.

For rainwater, funnel it into a large cistern. For rainwater or well water connect it to a filtration system.  Depending on how finely you filter the water you’ll be able to use it in the house and for drinking water.

Side note – your type of roof is a pretty big factor for rainwater harvesting. If you have asphalt shingles, don’t use any of the water you’re capturing aside from gardening.  The risks involved in human use of the water from an asphalt roof are not worth it.

Number Four – Energy

The final way to break from the centralized system is to find your own means of energy production.  For the most part this just means charging batteries, since that’s all wind and solar really do.

First find out how big of a battery system you would need for the place you live.  You might even be able to convince your apartment complex to invest in it, if you live in one.

Once you figure out how big of a battery system you’ll need, then you need to figure out how to charge them. This can be done with a combination of solar and wind.  However if your local region has streams or thermal energy definitely tap into those resources.

For streams and rivers it’s fairly simple to do a mirco-hydro setup that doesn’t completely destroy an ecosystem like a dam does.

For thermal, it gets very complicated depending on how you need to tap into the thermal source. So if your local power supply is already coming from thermal then you are in decent shape.  However, having a battery system as a backup is always a plus if the main supply has any kind of mechanical disruption.

Foundation Complete, Now What?

MAKERSPACE! Get together with your community (you hopefully already have over the course of the first four foundation steps) and find a single place or multiple places to house tools and machines for making a repairing everyday items.

This could look like one large building that your community invests in, or a whole chain of personal neighborhood garages, each one outfitted with a different tool set.  Like, Joe’s garage is where all the wood shop is, Betty’s garage has an art studio, etc.  Your whole community has access to all of the different workshops so then everyone has the opportunity to start their own businesses if they want.

Some people could go down the path of being the repair person, another in charge of renting equipment outside and inside of the community, others team up to become a teaching group providing classes to those in the community or outside the community.

Possibilities are endless.

Beyond Politics

With survival and creative needs met by the community, then the need for politicians and government as we see it falls away.  A new form of human interaction can then take its place.  That will only be determined by the people that actually break away from government as it is though.

Of course group discussions and decision making need to occur and for that I recommend Sociocracy.

For now, this is where we end this brief introduction into what could be a healthy way forward for society.  All of these topics will be discussed more in-depth here and within the videos that we are producing.
